Reminders & Remedies
I will admit that I was a little jealous of my friends Matt & Callie’s kitchen where they painted an entire wall in their kitchen with chalkboard paint for notes and reminders. I don’t have a wall in my kitchen that it would work on, so on to the next most popular room in the house: the bathroom!
My bathroom is last on the list for renovations so I don’t think much about updates because we need to save some major pennies first. But the more I thought about the chalkboard kitchen wall, the more I was looking for some kind of a solution of my own and it was staring me in the face, my medicine cabinet.
This update took less than an hour:
- A good cleaning of the surface.
- A little hand sanding so that the paint will have something to bind to. Don’t forget to wipe this down really well so that you don’t get sawdust under your new paint coat.
- 2 coats of Krylon Chalkboard Paint {I prefer the quart because I have more control with a paint brush than spray paint – and way less taping!}.
- Let it dry for 3 DAYS!
- Grind up some chalk sticks into a powder and rub over surface to condition it.
- Let loose and list away!
Now I can keep all of my inspirations and to dos right where I see them every morning an every night. In addition, I use to keep a stickies where I kept my cold medicine of my favorite remedies. I don’t get sick very often, but I usually remember what I meds I prefer once I am better or on the mend so I started writing it down. I know this reveals the project manager in me, but in truth, when you feel bad, remembering what you should do is the last thing you want to do.
Happy Renovating!
